Jamila Silvera is a vibrant singer/songwriter and visual artist from the DC area who blends Soul/Jazz, traditional Rhythm & Blues, and Folk into her own brand of storytelling. The daughter of an attorney and reggae singer, she has been exposed to a wide variety of influences that have affected her craft and interests.

Jamila describes music as her "strongest form of communication and greatest source of joy, focus, and earnest meditation." She is humbled by the notion that music is the most efficient way to convey a message without asking permission. Her simple, yet lofty goal is to share and swap stories in song.  A former secondary art educator, Jamila left teaching to pursue her great passion for singing and writing in 2014.

Jamila released her self-titled EP in the fall of 2013 under the guidance of her long-time friends and musicians, Garage Voice. Making music has allowed her to build unexpected connection and most-cherished relationships. The release of her most recent project was made possible through yet another treasured and long-time friendships with producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, Keith Tutt, II and producer, Grammy Nominated composer and vocalist, Armand Hutton of Hutton Records and Naturally 7.

She started the New Year with a bang, releasing The Cranberries cover,  "Dreams" on January 2, 2018. Now available on all platforms.
